Christmas of the Street

Where are you going, little good man
Running like this with your bare feet
I’m running after Heaven
Because it’s Christmas, so they say..

Christmas on the streets
Means snow and wind
And the street’s wind
makes the children cry
The light and the joy
are behind the shop windows
They are not for you, nor for me
They are for our neighbor
Have fun, my little one
look, just look
But don’t touch anything
Look from far…

Christmas on the streets
Means the winter’s cold
in their wide open eyes
The children of the street
stick their noses to the windows
All the little ones weather the storm
They are nestled, same like Jesus
That St. Mary would have lost …

Christmas on the streets
Means snow and wind
And the wind of the street
make the children cry
They leave sniffing,
They go away empty-handed
with their noses in the air and searching
for a splendid star
My little one, if you see it
while you’re walking straight ahead

Christmas on the streets
Means to the sky of their life
a sleeping star
that didn’t come down..
